September 20, 2001 Palace of Auburn Hills Detroit, Michigan All I have to say, is WOW!! The concert was amazing!! I took lots of pics, and i hope to put them on here soon. I was so close, i was in shock. i don't know what else to say, except that, they all looked so fine!! :) **check out my pics in the concert pics section!!** November 6, 1999 Palace of Auburn Hills Auburn Hills, Michigan
This was the first concert I had ever been to, and i had just recently became interested in pop music like *NSync (yes, i said *nsync, BSB forever though!!) and the Backstreet Boys. I had been bummed because I didn't get to go the the *Nsync show a couple of months earlier, so I convined my mom (she's a BSB fan too, Howie's her man!! ), to get tickets to the Backstreet Boys concert in Detroit, Michigan. But, as we soon found out, the show was sold out, so we had to go through a ticket broker, and pay too much for bad seats. Well, I'll tell you about the concert now! This was the first show of three in Detroit, and I had really bad seats (second to last row in the balcony!) but it was great anyways! I remember that a group called EYC (Express Yourself Clearly) opened for them and Mandy Moore was on after EYC. Both sang a few songs, Mandy sang "Candy" and EYC sang "Only A Dream", then after a half hour wait or so, it was time for the show to begin!! The Boys "flew" in on what looked like surf boards, all but Kevin of course, because he had injured his shoulder in Denver, Colorado a few days before, so he came up onstage in a Star Wars costume, all of this of course was accompanied by Star Wars music. The first song they sang was "Larger Than Life", and they ended the concert with "I Want It That Way". March 13, 2000 Jack Breslin Center East Lansing, Michigan Again, for this concert, I persuaded my mom that we needed to go, but when we finally decided that we could go, tickets had all ready been onsale and sold out. So, again we went through a ticket broker and paid too much for not so good seats. This time the concert was at the Jack Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan, (this is where the Michigan State basketball team plays, and you can see Nick and Brian practicing with the team in their "The One" music video) when we got there and got to our seats, I realized that even though wer were in the balcony, but only four rows up this time, we had a very good view! I was very happy. On this, the second leg of the "Into The Millenium" tour, their opening acts were the Jungle Boys (I think thats what they were called), they didn't get that much of a rise from the audience, but they were ok, not my favorite, but they were accepted a lot better than the second act. I'm sure you have heard of her, Willa Ford, if you are a fan of hers, don't take this the wrong way, but she CAN'T sing! She is awful! Yeah, she sounds decent (I guess) on the radio, but that's because there are professionals at the recording company that clean up and edit the tracks for her, because she can't make them sound good. (*to willa fans: i don't hate her just because of the entire Nick thing, i hate her because she cant sing either.) Well, now that I have got that all out of the way, I guess I'll talk about our Boys a bit! The concert was pretty much the same as before, they opened and closed with the same songs. But this time it was cool because the MSU basketball team had given each Boy a MSU basketball jersey with their names on the back, and they wore these for singing the last song, "I Want It That Way".
Johnny No Name April 5, 2000 State Theater Detroit, Michigan This time I was fortunate enough to actually go to the ticketmaster and buy tickets myself! Since the tour wasn't very advertised (major BSB fans mostly just knew about it and after my first BSB concert, I became a MAJOR BSB fan!!), I was able to get floor seats and it was general admission, so I had it all going for me. My friend and I were totally psyched (she's a major AJ fan!) and we counted down the days together. When we got to the venue, the State Theater in Detroit, Michigan, we had to wait in line until they opened the doors. But, it was all good, because we got to see the buses drive up, and we got there just in time to see AJ's bus. My friend ran up as close to the bus as she could get (i later caught up to her) and when I got by her, AJ was just getting off the bus, and he was as gorgeous as ever!! After he was safely inside, he went upstairs in the theater, and was flirting with the crowd through the windows above us. It was really cool. The show began with Nobody's Angel, they sang a few songs, then out came Mindi Abair. If you have been to a BSB concert from the Millennium tour, you know who she is, she was the only female member of the Backstreet Band, and she was awesome! She performed a couple of songs, then "Johnny" came out, he covered a few songs by other artists, sang a couple BSB songs, had a duet or two with Mindi, and he also brought his mom, Denise, onstage. The concert was really good and he teased us all in the audience constantly. February 15, 2001 Pontiac Silverdome Detroit, Michigan This time Mom and I actually went to the ticketmaster to get our tickets and we were glad we did. We got there an hour before they went onsale, and we were seventeenth in line, and we actually got decent seats. We weren't in the balcony, we were nine rows off the floor just behind the fifty yard line. Well, it was funny, we got there really late because we had problems with our limo service, (we got a limo because we had seven people going, and none of us had a large enough vehicle and we wanted to ride together). We got to the venue just as Destiny's Child came onstage(we were one of the two venues that got to see destinys child). With this, I knew of course that I had missed Krystal, so that was a bummer. We didn't see much of D.C. though, the only song that I remember hearing in it's entirety was "Independent Women" but after we finally got to our seats, I believe it was an hour wait until the Boys came onstage. But it was all good, my friend and I decided to explore the floor area (we could go down the stairs, straight to the floor). We walked around down there a while, checkin' out what looked like a small stage on the floor, directly in front of our section, we also found out that to get into the section right in front of the stage, u need to have seats there, dang it!! LOL! But, the concert was starting, so we went to our seats. They opened with "Everyone" and closed with "Shape Of My Heart". It was all really cool, they had a huge screen right behind the stage and one smaller screen on each side. The concert was all going good, and we got to see in the dressing room, then the music started again, the Boys weren't on the stage, and the lights weren't on either, but all of a sudden the lights came on, and the guys were on the little stage that I had checked out earlier. My friend and I just looked at each other for a second, then I pushed her into the aisle and we ran down to the floor, and got as close to the little stage as we could. The only bummer to all this was the fact that Nick went and sat on the other side! But it was still all good, I was so happy and full of energy after that, it was awesome. May 26, 2001 Water Tower Place and FAO Schwarz Chicago, Illinois This wasn't a concert, but I wanted to tell about it anyways. I had been in Chicago, Illinois the previous week and I heard that Howie D. was going to be in Chicago the next week (may 26, 2001) and we were all ready planning to be in Chicago that weekend anyways, so I told my mom our plans for that next weekend. They were: Saturday, get up early, take me to the mall (water tower place, which I have heard is the BSB favorite place to shop in Chicago), and there I was going to meet Howie at the Steve Madden shoe store there because that is where the charity signing for the fans was located. Then, later that evening we were going to go to the private dance party hosted by Howie and Erica Sommers, co-founder of the Stars in the Wild program. Then Sunday evening we went to a Joey McIntyre concert at Navy Pier. There isn't much to say, except that it was awesome to meet Howie, and he winked at me, and I melted!! LOL! And to be completely honest, I DID NOT freak out and start crying!! I was so proud of myself!! LOL! I also met Erica Sommers, she's only 15 years old, and she is really nice. BSB's Stars in the Wild animal comes out in either October or November, and it's a butterfly. They introduced it at the private party, it's really pretty. |
